I know of no depository of the ultimate powers of society
but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened
enough to exercise their control with a
wholesome discretion ,the remedy is not to take it from them,
but to inform their discretion,

Thomas Jefferson

Make no little plans, they have no magic to stir men’s blood
and probably will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in
hope and work remembering that a noble, logical diagram
once recorded will never die.

Daniel Burnham

I am not interested when you build a beautiful design in a
gap of a street if you treated it only as a unit in itself, not
considering the neighborhood which is already there…
you must blend in with the larger circumstances.
This larger circumstance is the main thing and all limited
objectives have to be subordinated to the whole.

Walter Gropius
